NOTICE OF DETOUR APPROVAL
P. I. 0019128 CRISP COUNTY
Notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the use of and the routing of a detour for this project.
The date of detour approval is: March 30, 2026
The purpose of this project is to replace GDOT Bridge 081-5034-0 located on CS 718 (Frontage Road) over Cedar Creek Tributary in Cordele, GA (Crisp County). The proposed project is approximately 0.4 miles long, beginning 961 feet south of the existing bridge abutment and ending 914 feet north of the existing bridge abutment. The proposed right-of-way varies from 140 to 180 feet. The bridge will be constructed at the current location along the existing roadway centerline. Traffic will be maintained via an offsite detour during construction. The estimated time of construction is 12 months. This project would include an off-site detour.
The posted speed limit on CS 718/Frontage Road is 45 mph and the GDOT policy speed is 45 mph. The highway system functional classification for CS 718/Frontage Road is a Local Road and Street.
The proposed bridge will be approximately 125 feet long by 31 feet wide utilizing AASHTO Type I Mod beams with one 11-foot travel lane in each direction having 3-foot shoulders on both sides. The bridge elevation will be raised up to seven feet above existing grade due to hydraulic requirements.
During construction, an off-site detour will be utilized to route traffic from CS 718/Frontage Road to SR 300 and Old Hatley Road then back onto CS 718/Frontage Road during closure. The additional distance for the detour route is approximately 1.0 miles. The overall detour length is 1.6 miles long.
