Notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the use of and the routing of a detour for this project.

The date of detour approval is: June 9, 2022

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing GDOT Bridge ID 081-5012-0 on CR 73/Watson Road over Reedy Branch Tributary in Crisp County. The total length of the project is approximately 0.2 miles, beginning 550 feet south of the existing bridge abutment and ending 600 feet north of the existing bridge abutment. The proposed project consists of constructing a new bridge over Reedy Branch Tributary that is approximately 80 feet long and 30 feet wide. The bridge would be constructed at the current location along the existing roadway centerline utilizing an offsite detour for maintenance of traffic. The design speed on CR 73/Watson Road is 35 mph. The highway system functional classification for CR 73/Watson Road is Rural Local Road. Construction for this project is estimated to be approximately 8 months.

The proposed improvements include two 9-foot lanes with 4-foot, 4 1/2-inch wide shoulders on both sides of the bridge. The proposed roadway typical section on both sides of the bridge consists of two 9-foot wide lanes with two-foot wide rural, unpaved shoulders. The project length is estimated to be 0.2 miles along CR 73/Watson Road.

During construction, an off-site detour will be utilized to route traffic from CR 73/Watson Road to Hawpond Rd, then onto Brock Road, then onto Stephens Road during closure. The additional distance for the detour route is approximately 3.51 miles.

Drawings or maps or plats of the proposed project, as approved, are on file and are available for public inspection at the Georgia Department of Transportation:
